Rihanna to Body Shamers: ‘Somebody Called Me Too Fat?’

Rihanna has been living her best life promoting her new sci-fi film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. Meanwhile, there has been plenty of controversy over the singer’s body, from fans who praise her new “thick” figure to body shamers calling her “fat.” In a video posted by a fan Instagram account, the singer replied to it all, writing: “Somebody called me too fat?” The multimillionaire ultimately seemed unfazed by the comments surrounding her new look.

In the 2015 video, Rihanna shows us that despite being an international celeb, she is just like the rest of us. She is seen grabbing snacks at a gas station’s convenience store. The fan Instagram account captioned the video, “Everybody who calling rob too fat @mdollas11 telling you what to do in this video K!! #mindyourown #eatallyouwant @badgalriri I got you like Melissa.”

Melissa Forde is Rihanna’s childhood best friend, who in the video is shouting “‘You’re judging her — stop judging her” to the person recording and criticizing Rihanna for grabbing several snacks in just her few minutes in the store.

“Somebody called me too fat?” Rihanna wrote in the comments of the video. To clarify that she was joking in her response, Rihanna added three laughing-so-hard-I’m-crying emoji.

Commenters quickly answered the singer’s rhetorical question; one person wrote, “You are beautiful baby girl, I love how you don’t settle for less. Love your thickness and embrace your new body. Always remember there’s no such thing as fat.”

If we had Rihanna’s gorgeous figure, we’d laugh at all the shamers too.
